Making spinach pizza:
Kristi from Rada Cutlery demonstrates how to make a spinach greek-style pizza. This is an easy pizza recipe that’s low in calories.
Hi, Kristi at the Rada kitchen. Today I’m making a recipe out of our “400 Calorie Dinners” cookbook. This has recipes for soups, casseroles, meatless dishes, seafood, poultry, side dishes. Today I’m going to make spinach Greek-style pizza.
This cookbook has calories, protein, fat, grams; it explains all that. It also has a restaurant guide that features some choices at some popular restaurants. Let’s get started.
The ingredients you will need will be 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon minced garlic, 1 cup of seeded green or red bell pepper, 1 cup chopped onion, a 1 pound frozen bread dough that’s been thawed, 1/2 teaspoon oregano, a 15 ounce can of Italian style tomato sauce, a 10 ounce package of frozen and chopped spinach that’s been thawed and drained, 1 cup reduced fat/fat free shredded mozzarella cheese, and a pound of
The first thing we’re going to do is season our 12-inch pizza pan. I’m going to use the Rada stoneware pizza pan. You’re going to take your bread dough and press it into your pan to about 12 inches. You want to leave about a 1-inch edge. Then you’ll want to poke it with a fork.
You’ll want to pre-heat your oven to about 375 degrees (Fahrenheit) and you’re going to put this into the oven for about 10 minutes. My crust is baking in the oven and while that’s baking, I’m going to make the vegetables and chicken. We need about 1 cup of onion.
I’m using the Rada cook’s knife. This is chopped onions, we don’t have to cut it real small. Now I’m going to take my red pepper that I’ve washed and taken out the seeds and I’m going to chop that with the Rada utility knife. Now I’ll add the pepper to my pan.
Now we’re going to chop our chicken and you want it in kind of fine pieces. You could use ground chicken if you can find that. I’m going to use this big French chef knife and just chop it up. I have my chicken all finely chopped and I’m going to add that to my pan with my onions and peppers.
I’m going to add a teaspoon of minced garlic and we’re going to cook this on the stove over medium-high heat until the chicken gets well cooked. Now the chicken is cooked, it’s no longer pink. I’m going to add the Italian style tomato sauce. You don’t need to cook it any longer.
Now add the 1/2 teaspoon of oregano. Now we’ll take it over and make our pizza. On the baked crust, we’re going to sprinkle the drained spinach and then we’re going to spread on our chicken mixture. Then we’re going to add our 1 cup of fat-free/low-fat mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese.
You’re going to bake this in the 375-degree oven for about 25 minutes or until the cheese gets melted and bubbly. Here’s our spinach Greek-style pizza. The recipe is in the “400 Calorie Dinners” cookbook. You can find much more recipes in this that will fill you up without rounding you out. Thanks for watching.
